Traditional Korean comfort food waltzes with classic French technique while teaching it a little Gangnam style at the new restaurant Chae Modern Korean, 1933 NW 23 St.

Korean House and Jeon Ju have featured authentic Korean food in the Midwest City-Del City area for years, as have a handful of other family-owned cafes in the Oklahoma City metro area, but Chae (pronounced chay) is the first to invite the distinctive style and bold flavors of Korea into chic, sophisticated environs.

Chae Modern Korean's humble namesake, Daniel Chae, puts much of the restaurant's early success at the feet of good fortune.

“I feel very lucky to have the people who are here,” Chae said. “Honestly, they're all so talented, I just try to encourage them and support them.”
