NICHOLS HILLS – When The Coach House opened in 1985, President Ronald Reagan was serving his second term in office and Coca-Cola had released New Coke. Coach House founder Kurt Fleischfresser’s son Kyle Fleischfresser was still in diapers.

In that 30 years, Kurt Fleischfresser’s restaurant has been the site for birthday celebrations, proposals and anniversaries. Lovebirds will enjoy their last Valentine’s Day there as the restaurant is closing Sunday, but there are other plans for the location.

Head bartender Kyle Fleischfresser and Chef David Henry will launch a new concept in midsummer in The Coach House building, 6437 Avondale Dr. The restaurant doesn’t have a name yet, but patrons will get to try the menu starting Wednesday.

“We figured 30 years was a pretty good run,” Kyle Fleischfresser said. “Dad has not been in the kitchen since he’s been (director of operations at Vast). Dave and I have been holding down the fort. We want to make it a little more David and myself moving forward. People still associate The Coach House with my dad. We want to make it Dave’s restaurant.”
