2014 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships and Pan Am Championships

This exciting event marks the first world championship on the Oklahoma River. Featuring athletes from up to 30 countries, this long distance race includes circular laps on the Oklahoma River and running portages along the shoreline in front of the Chesapeake Finish Line Tower, creating an exciting race for racers and spectators alike. Oklahoma waters will hold the top canoe/kayak marathon athletes from countries all around the world. It'll be a fun and unique event - you won't want to miss it! Canoe marathon includes races in single and double canoes and kayaks at the junior, under 23, and senior athlete level.

Local high performance athletes Maggie Hogan and Kaitlyn McElroy who live and train in Oklahoma City will even be racing against top competitors from countries such as Hungary, Spain, and South Africa. Maggie and Kaitlyn train at the OKC National High Performance Center in the Boathouse District and are coached by Shaun Caven. Caven is the Director and Head Coach of the canoe/kayak program at the OKC National High Performance Center. During his tenure as British National Coach, GB canoeing won its first gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was also selected to coach team USA at the 2012 London Olympics
