Join us for this exciting event and watch as the fastest kayakers from our nation race to realize their Olympic dreams. Two-time Olympian Carrie Johnson (San Diego, CA) and 2011 Pan Am Games Bronze Medalist Ryan Dolan (Kailua, HI,) can each earn a berth to the Olympic Games in London with victories in the Women's Single Kayak 500-meter event and the Men's Single Kayak 200-meter event, respectively.
USA Canoe/Kayak will also hold its National Team Trials for the 2012 ICF World Cup and ICF Paracanoe World Championships during the event. The sport of Paracanoe has been recently selected to debut at the 2016 Paralympics.
Admission is free and food vendors will be onsite. Trials racing takes place Friday evening from 5 to 7p. Racing continues Saturday morning at 8a. Bring your family to the Boathouse District to watch!
Paddle Now! Youth Experience
Saturday from noon to 2p, the Paddle Now! Youth Experience will allow youth grades 2 through 9 to get into sprint boats with some of the fastest kayakers in the nation and feel what it's like to paddle on the water! Come early to watch racing and meet Olympic athletes during an autograph session at 11a in the Chesapeake Finish Line Tower, then get ready to Paddle Now! in a dragon boat, kayak, canoe, and stand up paddle board.
