Winter in Oklahoma City brings events that delight visitors of all ages. Downtown in December, held from Thanksgiving until just after New Year's Day, features iceskating at Myriad Gardens, snow tubing at RedHawks Field at Bricktown and a variety of other activities around downtown.

While there's a chill in the air, sports are hot in Oklahoma City during the winter months. Oklahoma City's own NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the AHL Oklahoma City Barons offer high energy games on the court and ice. Performing arts fans will revel in the annual performance of The Nutcracker by the Oklahoma City Ballet, along with concerts from the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

And the Arts Council of Oklahoma City's Opening Night rings in the New Year with bands, street performers, food, fun and activities for the entire family. Horse show season also continues with the International Finals Rodeo and the National Reining Horse Derby at State Fair Park.
