Stockyards City Main Street will be celebrating the holiday season in a variety of ways this year. On Friday, November 18th @ 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., a first time event, “Cowboys and Caboodles”, an outlandish art show for your inner Okie, will have the opening reception at UMB Bank 1217 S. Agnew, OKC, OK. The art will be on displayed from November 10, 2016 to December 23, 2016 at UMB. Shel Wagner is the artist of this fun and unique display.
Also on November 18th, the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony @ 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Agnew and Exchange will use a little Santa Magic to illuminate the lights to welcome this holiday season. The Capitol Hill Alumni Choir will perform Christmas music and then carol throughout the Stockyards City Main Street businesses. Most stores will be open until 8:00 p.m. for this celebration.
Stockyards City Main Street Bucks will be returning this holiday season. By making a purchase at one of the participating Stockyards City Main Street businesses from November 18 until December 14, customers will receive a ticket for a drawing to win Stockyards City Bucks. Tickets will be drawn on December 15th at noon. Winners do not have to be present to win. Winners will be called and given instructions on picking up their bucks. The bucks expire December 31, 2016.
“A Cowboy Christmas Parade” in historic Stockyards City is one way to “Keep the West Alive” on December 3rd. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. with a herd of Oklahoma longhorns stampeding down Exchange and Agnew Avenues. The herd will be followed by antiques cars, tractors, floats, great clowns, groups and clubs of all sorts from businesses, schools, and organizations. The parade will end with our famous Cowboy Santa Claus. Following the parade will be pictures with Santa in the Rodeo Opry and special activities in the stores.
