The second annual Battle in the Saddle took center stage July 5-9 in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma State Fair Park teamed up with the American Quarter Horse Association to present the equestrian event. All of the events were dual-approved with AQHA partners Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, National Cutting Horse Association, Ranch Horse Association of America, National Reined Cow Horse Association, and sanctioning organizations Better Barrel Races and the American Rope Horse Futurity Association.
Top cowboys competed for more than $140,000 in added money in six fast-paced events: cowboy mounted shooting, working cow horse, roping, cutting and ranch remuda. Battle in the Saddle included everything from high-speed mounted shooting to the $10,000 roping match between eight-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association World Champion Fred Whitfield and the second youngest PRCA All-American World Champion Ryan Jarrett.
