Plans will be unveiled next week for a 10-story Canopy by Hilton set to be built later this year in the rapidly changing east Bricktown.

The 168-room Canopy Hotel is among five hotels set to be built in the entertainment district. The east end of the district, previously home to Stewart Metal Fabricators, is going through a transformation that includes construction of the Steelyard apartments and retail, Criterion concert hall and a five-story Springhill Suites hotel.

The Canopy will be built at 100 Charlie Christian Ave. where Body Works Collision shop was located and immediately south of the Springhill Suites and Criterion.

The hotel is being developed by Fred Mazaheri and hotelier Champ Patel, who bought the 4.6-acre site last April for $8 million. A presentation is set for Wednesday at the next meeting of the Bricktown Urban Design Committee with a vote on approval to follow at a later review.
