Experience the wild wonder, awe, fun, tradition and, of course, lots of candy

at Oklahoma’s biggest Halloween adventure!

Get ready for a Halloween adventure like no other with the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden’s 33rd annual Haunt the Zoo for Halloween. Presented by Wiggle Safe by Kohl’s Cares, Haunt the Zoo runs Wednesday, October 26, through Monday, October 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly (rain or shine) and provides six nights of trick-or-treating fun in an unconventional environment.

See the smiles and giggles from little ones as they are greeted by “huggable” mascots and costumed characters each night in the Zoo’s Global Plaza. From there, families take off on the official event trail where the lights and sights of Haunt the Zoo come to life. Children trick-or-treat along the way, collecting treats from festive volunteers at 21 themed booths. The booths feature family friendly themes, decorations and eye-popping props that are bound to be “delightful not frightful,” making them appropriate for young ages. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Adults may wear costumes, too, but nothing scary.

Grounds are patrolled by Zoo personnel, and all treats are securely stored and distributed from point of purchase to the children’s treat bags.

Haunt the Zoo admission per person, age 2 and up, is $7 (trick-or-treater) and $4 (non-trick-or-treater). All guests, age 2 and up, attending Haunt the Zoo require a ticket. Trick-or-treater admission includes an official treat bag and is required for anyone wishing to collect treats. All children must be accompanied by an adult companion 16 or older. Tickets can be purchased at the Zoo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 31, or online at Stroller and wheelchair rental will be available during Haunt the Zoo.

Haunt the Zoo is the Zoo’s largest annual fundraiser and net proceeds support the Zoo’s education programs and conservation initiatives. Should a ticket holder be unable to attend, the purchase will be considered a donation. No refunds will be issued.

By supporting Haunt the Zoo, you are helping the Zoo and the animals, too! The Zoo encourages Haunt the Zoo sponsors to provide candy that is palm-oil free or made with sustainable palm oil in support of orangutan conservation. Deforestation due to non-sustainable, palm-oil production is threatening populations of already-endangered orangutans in Indonesia and Malaysia. Through its website and other educational programs, the Zoo encourages the support of companies that work to help save the species from extinction. The Zoo employs other “eek-o” friendly initiatives, such as providing reusable fabric trick-or-treat bags and ensuring that hundreds of pumpkins used to decorate Haunt the Zoo are delivered to the compost station for future gardens.
