RIVERSPORT is participating in USRowing’s National Learn to Row week by offering two dates for free Learn to Row lessons. The Saturday, June 5, session will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lake Overholser and registrants will get a free lunch sandwich wrap from the Trailhead Café.  The Saturday, June 12, session will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Chesapeake Boathouse in the Boathouse District.

Participants will start on ergs – land rowing machines – to learn the basic motion, then move to Oar Boards to get on the water. A new innovation in rowing, these specially-equipped paddle boards offer a stable platform for new rowers to practice the rowing stroke.

Those interested in getting involved in rowing can take additional rowing lessons for adults and camps for youth, and recreational and competitive programs are available for both youth and adults.

Learn to Row Day is free, but registration is required. The event is open to ages 14 and older. Participants should wear comfortable clothes, athletic shoes & socks, and bring a hat, sunglasses, water bottle & sunscreen.

Lake Overholser Boathouse is located at 3115 E. Overholser Drive and Chesapeake Boathouse is located at 725 S. Lincoln Boulevard. Registration is available online at https://www.riversportokc.org/events/learn-to-row-day. For more information call (405) 552-4040 or email info@riversportokc.org.
