Historically, much of Oklahoma City’s art identity has been located in The Paseo Arts District, a small neighborhood just north of downtown with nearly two dozen working artists and studios, all of which are open the first Friday of every month—even winter months. Since the redevelopment of the urban core, though, visual arts are springing up all around downtown, both in the Arts District and in surrounding districts.
Changes to Oklahoma’s alcohol laws last year led to an acceleration of what was already a craft beer boom in the city. With more than 40 licensed breweries in operation or development statewide, OKC is now at the heart of a thriving beer culture. The addition of the streetcar means that accessing an “ale trail” is now easier than ever, but most of the breweries are still “off the rails,” so to speak.
A night out doesn’t have to be a meticulously planned event. Sometimes, come as you are is the best kind of evening, and OKC has a ton of choices for a casual night out with friends, from beer gardens to patios to drinks with a view, and even a cigar bar if that’s your thing.
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is almost here, so rather than be the person who didn’t make a plan and waited in line at a chain restaurant for ninety minutes, pick one of these uniquely Oklahoma City outings for the day or evening.
