Are you looking for something fun, spontaneous and FREE to
do this summer? Head south of downtown OKC
along the Oklahoma River and you'll find the Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park. Named after the youngest rider to join the
freestyle BMX circuit, Mat is a native Oklahoman who gave birth to Hoffman
Sports Association, Hoffman Bikes and is known as the greatest Vert-ramp rider
in the history of the sport.
In 2009 the Mat Hoffman Sports Action Park was named "Top Ten Skate Park's in the
U.S." from National Geographic as well as "The 10 Best of Everything Families;
An Ultimate Guide for Travelers." So, what can you expect from a sports park with a rep like that? Pure fun for all ages along with 26,000 sq. ft.
of extreme skate park, which happens to be the largest and most challenging in
the state. The Action Park is divided
into two areas. The first is a flow
course consisting of bowl combos with varying shapes, depths and heights and
the second is the street course with ledges and handrails. The two areas are connected with a 20' wide
sidewalk with even more obstacles for you to master.
If you're looking at making it a family outing, there is a picnic bench to relax on while watching a Bunnyhop, flip or Sprocket from the adventurous ones in the family. Everything is free including the parking and you're just minutes from downtown so go check it out and see what everyone is talking about!
We'll see you there!
