Your daily run is a great way to explore Oklahoma City while also getting in a little exercise. With more than 140 miles of trails throughout the city, you’re never far from a great running path! But to help you narrow it down, here are a few of the favorite running routes for locals.
Lake Hefner is a haven for sports and recreation enthusiasts. Here you’ll find nearly 10 miles of paved, multi-purpose trails with markers every half mile.
Oklahoma River Trails
Some of the newest trails in OKC, the Oklahoma River Trails are 13 miles of unimpeded, paved trails along the Oklahoma River.
Myriad Botanical Gardens
If you’d like something simpler – head over to the Myriad Gardens. If you run/walk/jog/skip/shuffle around the exterior sidewalk just 1.5 times, you’ll have gone a mile!
Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
OKC is home to one of the top marathons in the world – the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Run each April by more than 25,000 runners, the marathon has a number of options for every skill level: marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5k and even a kids’ marathon. As far as marathons go, this one ranks in the moderate to fast category with only 140 feet of total elevation difference over the entire run. Only 221 days to go!
