The calendar says spring, and thankfully the weather is beginning to agree. Days are longer, the sunshine feels warmer, and thoughts (mine, at least) turn to spending as much time in that sun as possible, including meals. One fairly new, and really tasty, option for outdoor dining is the Ice House at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.

From November to February, this sleek white building services the ice skate needs of the Devon Outdoor Ice Rink. But during the warmer months, the restaurant side throws open its window and serves up authentic Nic's Burgers, a.k.a. some of the tastiest burgers in OKC. The original Nic's has been featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives," and now all that deliciousness can be conveniently consumed downtown. Beyond burgers, they also serve up fries, shakes, floats, grilled cheese for the kiddos and salads for those so inclined.

You can grab your lunch to go or sit at one of the numerous umbrella-covered tables in the plaza nestled between the Park House restaurant and the beautiful grounds of the Myriad Botanical Gardens. And if you feel the need to walk off some of those calories you just consumed, it's hard to beat a stroll around the Myriad Gardens, especially as the daffodils and azaleas begin to bloom.
So if you're  downtown for the 2014 NCAA Wrestling Championships this weekend, or just looking for a sunny spot to consume some of the best beef around, stroll over to the Myriad Gardens and check out the Ice House. They're open 7 days a week from 11:00am to 3:00pm, March through October.
