When was the last time you took the time to really indulge in some quality self-care, allowing yourself to fully relax and unwind? Allow us to remind you that you don’t have to wait for an official vacation to unplug and indulge, instead, book yourself a couple of mini-vacays in the form of massages, facials and other relaxing treatments at one of OKC’s many exceptional day spas.

The benefits of self-care are scientifically proven: a great massage, for example, in addition to feeling terrific, offers solid health benefits including lowering blood pressure and heart rate, improving immune function, reducing stress and improving circulation, alertness and energy levels. If a massage alone can do all that, we feel like treating yourself to a regular massage plus a facial (or another treatment or two) is a brilliant way to work some seriously beneficial self-care into your routine. Here are some ideas in Oklahoma City to get you started.

Mokara Spa

On the third floor of Oklahoma City’s beautiful new Omni Hotel is the peaceful, beautiful Mokara Spa. We wish we could bottle the calm we felt upon stepping into this gorgeous space. From the tranquil relaxation lounge and head-to-toe treatments to the revitalizing sauna and pampering nail services, everything here is impeccable. There are seven signature massages to choose from, plus reflexology and more. We’re partial to the Mokara Glow (head-to-toe full-body exfoliation scrub followed by a cocooning of shea butter).

Angels & Sages

We tried the Foot Sanctuary treatment at Angels & Sages, and frankly, we never wanted it to end. It included a 20-minute foot and lower leg massage, a botanical foot soak with customized aromatherapy, a lower leg and foot polish with handcrafted sugar scrub, plus bubbly and a snack.

Udander

It means ‘exhale’ in Danish. There are two Udander locations waiting to pamper you. First of all, both locations are gorgeous. We are happy to report that after a recent Om Experience (60 minutes in the steam and sauna, followed by a 60-minute massage). It was all we could do to pour ourselves into our car to head home. Private parties are also available, perfect for hosting a spa party for your besties.

The Float Spa

Not your typical day spa, The Float Spa is a flotation therapy spa. Your float time takes place in a sensory deprivation chamber. This will either really appeal to you or really not appeal to you. Flotation therapy allows you to effortlessly float atop a pool of warm, highly-saturated salt water, nearly at zero-gravity. It's been proven that 40 minutes of sensory deprivation can change the brain waves to a meditative state. The Float Spa also offers traditional spa treatments like massages and facials, but the float therapy is the house specialty.

Novella Salon & Spa

Novella is all about an inviting atmosphere of peace, calm and tranquility. Select from personalized spa treatments, facials and massages, plus salon offerings like hair cut/color/styling and manicures and pedicures. We love the Mini Spa Escape: it’s a 50-minute Swedish massage, European facial and essential oil salt scrub, plus a spa lunch.

The Sweet Mimosa

Sweet Mimosa offers a wide selection of massages and treatments like sugar scrubs, and harder-to-find treatments like cupping. But the service we are most intrigued by is the Bamboo Massage, recommended for anyone suffering neck, shoulder or back pain. A heated bamboo stick is used on the body with gliding and rolling techniques, releasing endorphins and leaving you feeling restored. Calming, relaxing and unique!
