The addition of West’s second location at the corner of Sheridan and South Mickey Mantle Drive in the popular Bricktown district of Oklahoma City is a welcome dining delight. It’s nearness to several popular entertainment sources like the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the Bricktown Riverwalk and Water Taxis, and the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder – the Chesapeake Energy Arena, make it a great option for dining before or after a local site or event.
Diners love the multi-floored sleek and elegant décor along with the sparkling lighting, as well as a menu of fantastic options from sandwiches, soups and salads to pastas or steaks, chicken and seafood along with the famous Johnnie’s burger, an ever-popular Oklahoma City favorite for decades.
One must begin a meal at West with one of their 1st Course choices, but the choosing is challenging, because the popular crispy Zuccha Chips compete with other options like the Flat Bread Pizza of the Day or the Warm West Chips, a wonderful concoction of freshly-fried homemade potato chips smothered in warm blue cheese and a balsamic reduction. Nicely complimenting the appetizers is an extensive wine list along with beer and a cocktail list including “West Skinnies” for those counting calories. For those who aren’t, try the West Sangria, a mix of red wine loaded with fresh peaches, mangos and strawberries. While West’s first floor are lower-lit and better suited for regular dining, the second floor may tempt you for cocktails with a lovely view of Bricktown’s lights in the evening from the 75-seat balcony complete with a shimmering free-standing fireplace centered on it.
Moving on to Entrees, the choice will be equally as difficult. Always a win is the local favorite choice of West Airline Chicken with hints of lemon and olive oil along with asparagus and mashed potatoes. But the Bow Tie Pasta with smoked salmon and vodka cream sauce is also delicious and indulgent . West offers some gluten free options as well like the Zucchini Pasta with Pomodoro sauce, spinach and parmesan.
For the beef lover, there is an outstanding Filet, Chicken Fried Beef Tenderloin or consider feeling like you’re dining at your home away from home with the Individual Meatloaf, tender slices of meatloaf served with brown gravy and mac and cheese.
Southwest flavors can be found by ordering Enchiladas or Barbacoa & Blackened Chicken Tacos along with Green Chili Pinto Beans and Mexican Lime Rice.
Rounding out you meal there is more pondering over dessert choices from a warm plate of Chocolate Chip Cookies served on a platter with a glass of milk or the deconstructed West Key Lime Pie, a delicious offering of key lime filling topped with whipped cream and topped with graham cracker crisps.
Don’t count out the weekends either as there are some fantastic brunch offerings on Saturdays and Sundays like the West Benedict in three options of Vegetarian, Original and Jumbo Lump Crab. The original menu while scaled down is also available for brunch.
