Have you heard the news that the 2014 U.S. Senior Open will be just north of OKC in a week and a half? The U.S Senior Open is one of the major championships in men's senior golf. And while it's open to amateurs, it's dominated by pros.  In 2011, the prize fund was $2.6 million and went up to $2.75 million in 2012.

Whether you're one of the lucky ones heading to Oklahoma July 7-13 to swing some clubs or you're a golf enthusiast that can't miss out on this event, we have some suggestions for you in OKC when the course isn't calling your name.

Start Here!
If Bricktown isn't at the top of your to-do list yet, let me just help you prioritize... Bricktown is OKC's entertainment district and located in the heart Oklahoma City.  It's got everything from restaurants, baseball, dockside bars to shopping at Bass Pro.  Bricktown is a must-see/do while you are in town, for sure!

Looking for some AC?
If you're not one for the summer heat and you're looking for some inside AC attractions, then we've got plenty of those options too!  First, take a few hours to check out the Oklahoma City National Memorial.  You'll experience the events of April 19, 1995 through the voices, images and artifacts of survivors, family members and rescue workers. It's an amazing museum. Or check out the museum that more than 10 million have already viewed and go to the National Cowboy and Western Museum and see internationally renowned collections of Western art and artifacts. Keep with the Western theme and head up the highway to Stockyard City where you can find the Oklahoma National Stock Yards, plenty of Western shopping and Oklahoma City's oldest restaurant, Cattlemen's Steakhouse.  It's definitely been here for more than 100 years for good reason!

Looking for family-friendly adventures during your trip?
Take the family to the Adventure District and see the Oklahoma City Zoo or Science Museum Oklahoma.  When you're done there, be sure to check out the Boathouse District, too.  While there, you can get on the water with rowing, kayaking and dragon boating or stand up paddle boarding.  Plus, you can enjoy even more at RIVERSPORT Adventures while at the Boathouse District!  The brand new 700-foot SandRidge Sky Zip will have you soaring over the Oklahoma River, plus the SandRidge Sky Trail and 80 -ft Rumble Drop free-fall will keep your adrenaline pumping.

Best of luck on the course, and we'll see you in OKC!
