Fall break is almost here and you are probably looking for some family friendly activities to enjoy. Fall break is almost here and you are probably looking for some family friendly activities to enjoy. Whether you are searching for a Fall Break Day camp or just a place to spend a few hours together with the kids, here are a few suggestions for you. These local destinations are fun for all ages and are the perfect place to spend your day this Fall Break.

  1. For animal lovers, head to the Oklahoma City Zoo. The zoo hosts the School’s Out Day Camp during school hours for children 4-11. Fall Break campers can take part in a half or full day program filled with small animal encounters, crafts, active play, and tours of the zoo. Pre-registration is required. If you are visiting as a family, make time for Keeper Chats. Every day zoo staff give daily scheduled keeper chats on the animals in their care. It could be a animal presentation, a feeding, or an interaction. One of my favorites is the sea lions. Check the daily schedule to learn more about your favorite animals.

  2. To make learning fun and educational, visit the Science Museum Oklahoma. The museum’s Fall Break Camps will keep your children learning and having fun throughout the school break. Camps offer a variety of science topics for children in pre-K through 6th grade. Pre-registration is required. For a day trip, don’t forget that the museum offers plenty of hands on fun and learning. Planetarium shows and Science Live shows that “might just blow your mind.”

  3.  Explore the Wild West at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The museum has great drop-in activities for children the 1st Saturday of every month. But during Fall Break, they add more daily activities. While supplies last, your family can get hands on to learn more about the West, how people lived, what life was like, and more.

  4. Celebrate Everything Fall at Orr Family Farm. Spend the entire day at Orr Family Farm and celebrate everything you love about fall. Find your way out of the corn maze, feed the pygmy goats, pet the cute bunnies, enjoy a tractor pulled hay ride, and pick out your own pumpkin to take home. If you didn’t bring a lunch, grab a meal at the Country Store or The Grill. For something sweet, you can head into the Cookie Barn for a treat. The farm has added new games and activities for you to try this Fall Break like the Pedal Cars, Pig Races, and Discovery Barn. Stay until the farm closes and watch the fireworks show every Friday and Saturday in October. If you have older children (tweens and up), take them ziplining above the farm or try Zombie Apocalypse Paintball on select days.

  5.  Fall Break isn’t complete without a trip to Pumpkinville at the Myriad Gardens. For two weeks every October, the Children’s Garden is transformed with more than 16,000 pumpkins. The garden is filled with imaginative fall themed displays and a host of fun activities for the whole family. Enjoy fall themed crafts, pumpkin painting, ride the Pumpkinville Express Train, and play fun games. On select nights, enjoy special events like the Sensory Night for families and children with special needs, cooking classes, fall themed parties, and a parade. These are just a few of the many great destinations for you and your family to enjoy in Oklahoma City this Fall Break.
