While our hearts are heavy over the devastation that has swept through our state, we are prouder than ever to see the love and support shown not just by our fellow Okies but also our friends from around the world.
Recovery efforts have taken off over the week and the support being received is tremendous. Oklahoma City has set out to continue the support with many local restaurants, stores and attractions all donating some of their proceeds to disaster relief for the next week or so. Whether you are visiting or an OKC native, you can check out this Twitter list to see what is going on around the city for ways you can help. For those looking for volunteer opportunities or other ways to directly help, this Facebook page is a great resource.
There have also been multiple benefit concerts announced (see posters below), including Oklahoma's own Blake Shelton's "Healing in the Heartland" benefit concert at Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma City on May 29. That concert will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
So whether you're in town for the holiday weekend or here to stay, we hope you take advantage of some of these ways to have fun and give back too. We are behind you Oklahoma, and we are Oklahoma Strong.
