On Sept. 26-28, the Oklahoma City Boathouse District hosts the International Canoe Federation's Marathon World Championships. This is the first time the international event will be held in the United States! For Oklahoma City locals, it's a taste of the Olympics in our backyard.

For those stateside, this is a chance to see world class athletes without crossing the pond. For visitors from the International Community, this is a chance to enjoy Olympic caliber sports while checking out all Oklahoma City has to offer.

Team USA commented on their website, "This is an extraordinary year for selection." Team USA has nominated 10 female and 15 male athletes in to race in Oklahoma City.

The first ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships were held in Sweden in 1938. This led to the creation of another Olympic event: Canoe Slalom, a high adrenaline, whitewater race.  Eventually, the IFC gave birth to seven other disciplines including Canoe Marathon.

Make it a Family Event!

RIVERSPORT Adventures will be open Saturday, 1pm-10pm and Sunday, 1pm-8pm, with the exclusion of kayaking, dragon boating and stand up paddle boarding.
