They are one of the newest kids on the block...the Uptown 23rd block that is. Back Door BBQ opened its doors in August 2013 in the ever-growing Uptown 23rd district. So, as with any new, cool restaurants, we just had to try it out!
The décor has a rustic and industrial feel yet equally warm and welcoming. Located next door to Granddad's Bar and across the street from Tucker's Onion Burgers, Back Door BBQ gets their name from exactly that...having the main entrance as the back door. Find a parking spot behind the building and come on in for some delicious barbecue.
This is the pulled pork sandwich with French fries and fried okra. The pulled pork is tender and flavorful. The French fries are fried to perfection. And this okra? Well, it's not your typical fried okra. Because it's fried pickled okra. Once you have made your selection of food, you now have to pick your sauce. Choose from typical flavors such as hot, sweet and classic or be adventurous and try the mustard or espresso.
Be sure to save room for dessert. This "Chocolate Dirt" pudding in a mason jar is the perfect way to wrap up your meal.
So, get down to Uptown 23rd and give Back Door BBQ a try. We promise you won't be disappointed.
