¡Paseo! (Ride!): Caballeros, Vaqueros and Gauchos in American Films
In an effort to explore the origins and evolution of the American cowboy from Europe and Africa to the Americas, Michael R. Grauer, McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture/Curator of Cowboy Collections and Western Art, presents four films about caballeros, vaqueros and gauchos in Mexico and Central and South America. Although romanticized to an extent, these films offer examples of Hispanic horseback clothing, tools, gear and horse furniture, as well as techniques and lifeways unique to particular herding cultures.

    ¡Three Amigos (1986)!
Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short team up in this spoof about silent film cowboys who venture to a small Mexico town where they are mistaken for the real-life heroes they portrayed. 115 minutes. PG.
