In town on business? What better time to unwind with some fun in OKC! We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite restaurants and attractions within walking distance of the OKC Convention Center. Besides, all work and no play? We wouldn’t know anything about that!
Where to Eat & Drink
Just a short walk from the convention center, Spark is an obvious choice for all things burgers and casual bites. We recommend the Pink Fries – a delicious crinkle-cut fry with specialty “Pink Sauce,” parmesan and parsley. Don’t forget to grab a milkshake for dessert. You deserve it!
Located inside the Omni Hotel, OKC Tap House has it all. Their menu is filled with a wide variety of appetizers, entrées, desserts and more. The perfect three-course meal? How about the Beer-Boiled Shrimp Cocktail, Filet Mignon Melt and Bourbon Pretzel Bread Pudding? Now that’s a meal to write home about.
FLINT is one of the newest spots in the OKC restaurant scene, and they take dining to a whole new level. With different menus for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, there’s no shortage of delicious options to choose from. The Chicken Fried Steak? A dream.
Just a short walk from downtown, there's something for everyone in Bricktown. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through this entertainment district with red bricks and a lively atmosphere. Whether you're craving steak at Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse, Tex-Mex at Fuzzy's Taco Shop or sushi at Yokozuna, attendees can easily indulge in culinary delights just steps away from their convention activities. For an upscale experience, check out Culprits or The Joinery. For a more laid-back experience, try Bricktown Brewery or Rendezvous Pizza.
Where to Play
Scissortail Park is a stunning 70-acre oasis across the street from the OKC Convention Center, and there’s an abundance of fun to be had here. Friday through Sunday, visitors can rent a pedal boat, kayak or canoe. There’s no better way to unwind after a long week of work. If you happen to be in town over the weekend, check out the Scissortail Farmers Market. Held every Saturday from now until October, this weekly event is a great way to get to know the locals.
The Myriad Botanical Gardens is a convenient walk from the convention center. The outdoor spaces, which are free and open to the public, include ornamental gardens, a children’s garden and playground, an off-leash dog park and more. Rain or shine, the Crystal Bridge Conservatory offers guests an indoor garden experience with features that include a reflecting pool, overlook terraces and an indoor waterfall.
Paycom Center is the hub for all things concerts and OKC Thunder. What’s better than watching your favorite artist rock the stage after a long day of rocking your meetings? Perhaps a front row seat cheering on your favorite NBA basketball team as they dominate the court. Whatever your interest, Paycom Center has you covered!
Beyond Walking Distance
If you love OKC as much as we do and want to explore even more, you should check out the OKC Streetcars. With two unique routes and operating hours seven days a week, there’s plenty of opportunity to catch a ride and connect to nearly five miles of districts and entertainment.
