Oklahoma City will host its first pro/am surfing competition on Saturday, August 17 at RIVERSPORT. The FlowTour Pro/Am will attract local amateur competitors as well as regional professionals who will be competing for series points and cash prizes totaling $1,000. The event is free for spectators.

Surf competition begins at 1:00 p.m. and the day’s activities also include a Puppy Pool Party hosted by Bar K at 6:00 p.m. and live music featuring The Unlikely Candidates starting at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s going to be a new kind of event for Oklahoma City,” said Mike Knopp, RIVERSPORT executive director. “It’s our first major surfing competition and spectators are going to be surprised at just how good our surfers have gotten since we opened Surf OKC a couple of years ago.”

Puppy Pool Party

The Puppy Pool Party is a free event for people with puppies three to nine months old and will be held in RIVERSPORT’s dog park. Bar K, the new dog park, bar and restaurant slated to open later this year in the Boathouse District, is hosting the event. Puppies will have shallow pools and beach balls to play with and a dog trainer will be on hand to offer guidance to owners.

Live Music

The Unlikely Candidates will perform at 7:30 p.m. as part of RIVERSPORT’s Summer Music Series. Admission to the concert is free for anyone who arrives before 5:00 p.m.; after that, admission is $10.
