Day One

Willow Coffee CompanyStart your day with a delightful breakfast at the multi-roaster cafe Willow Coffee Co., a cozy spot known for its exceptional coffee and welcoming atmosphere. Their company values are inclusivity, community, quality and connection, and it would be no surprise to see a rainbow flag hanging proudly in the window here.

After breakfast, head to Factory Obscura, an immersive art collective offering mind-bending visual experiences. The exhibits here are interactive and designed to provoke thought, making it a perfect mid-morning stop.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, cruise over to Pizzeria Gusto, one of many queer-owned OKC restaurants. As the first Neapolitan pizza restaurant in the area, you can expect quality ingredients imported from Italy that make up a vast selection of pies, small plates and homemade desserts, along with a number of lunch specials and happy hour deals. Plus, the bustling outdoor patio makes this place a true hidden gem in OKC.

After lunch, keep it chill with a stroll through the 39th Street District, where you can window shop and spot bright murals.

Spend the rest of your afternoon in the Plaza District, one of the most unique, quirky and eccentric neighborhoods in the Modern Frontier. An amalgamation of restaurants, sweets and arts, the Plaza District has all the ingredients of an eventful excursion. Check out the affordable art and locally-sourced clothing, accessories and gifts at Dig It Boutique, DNA Galleries or Out On A Limb Boutique. Shop at Magoo’s Attic, an LGBTQ+ owned vintage store featuring local artists and makers. They're all steps away from one another. View the colorful Plaza Walls murals, a project of Oklahoma Mural Syndicate, features many artists whose work appears on a rotating basis on the walls of a private alley. If you want to watch a live performance while you’re in town, check out Lyric Theatre’s schedule. Tabbed as “Oklahoma’s leading professional theater,” Lyric is a staple of the district, giving attendees a taste of Oklahoma City’s impressive acting scene. Or catch an improv show at OKC Improv. With no scripts or premeditated storyline, OKC Improv showcases performers’ unrivaled theatrical creativity and imagination. Performances take place Friday-Sunday.

A woman is sitting at a table reading a magazine by herself.Kick off your morning by grabbing a cup of Joe (or an espresso-based drink) at Elemental Coffee Roasters before heading to one of our two favorite brunch spots in OKC: FRIDA Southwest and The Other Room. The former is a smoother, gentler start to the day, where you can indulge in a giant cinnamon roll or sip a craft cocktail. The latter is an extension of the previous festivities, as the Other Room is famous for its lively drag brunch.

This afternoon is all about rest and relaxation as you gear up for another night on the town in OKC. Enjoy some retail therapy! Visit Craig’s Curious Emporium, where you can browse through an eclectic selection of gifts, art and novelties. Other places to shop ‘til you drop are Common Dear, which showcases LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC and AAPI-owned brands, and be sure to check out Johnny and June across the street, a gift shop run by the same owners that offers a unique selection of Pride-tastic gifts.

If your belly is starting to grumble, head to OSO on Paseo for a Mexican-inspired snack. This Baja Tiki-clad spot serves small plates like ahi tuna tostadas, nachos and more.

It’s your last night in OKC, and you want to go out with a bang. If you ask us, there’s no better place to start the night than Picasso Café in the Paseo District, one of the city’s best spots for American cuisine, including excellent vegetarian and vegan plates, all served in a vibrant artsy setting with a fun outdoor patio.

Next, head to Phoenix Rising in the 39th Street District. This venue champions the LGBTQ+ community by hosting drag shows, karaoke and other live performances regularly. The bar is lively, but the patrons make this place irresistible. For a drag show, head to The Boom, or if you want to venture just a few blocks out of the 39th St District, dance the night away at Secret Bar, which features live drag performances, karaoke and themed nights.
