The Live Music scene
Oklahoma City's underlying pulse is its rich musical history. Rooted in rhythm and blues and the legends who came from it, OKC's music venues bring exceptional live music performances to the city for visitors and locals to experience.
Looking back, the city's musical scene was heavily influenced by the jazz and rhythm and blues pioneers who called Deep Deuce home in the early to mid-1900s. Legends like Charlie Christian, Jimmy Rushing and the Oklahoma City Blue Devils let loose in the city's historic district.
Today, OKC's music scene has evolved. While traditional jazz music is still alive and well, its footprint is present in other genres that have become more popular today. The same goes for the original sound of rhythm and blues and the storied history of live country music in OKC.
