During the Division I Softball Committee's annual meeting, recommendations were made regarding the format of the Women's College World Series. The Division I Competition Oversight Committee has officially supported a format expansion that accommodates all games within a 9-day period by eliminating the doubleheader for teams that lose on Day 1 of the WCWS and adding a day of rest for the two teams that advance to the finals. This expansion changes the dates of the series from June 2-7/8 to June 2-9/10 in 2022. For more information, visit the NCAA Resources page.
