Welcome to Okla-Cozy City!
Autumn in Oklahoma City is the best. We’ve got wide, beautiful blue skies, vibrant foliage thanks to our more than 20,000 trees, and then there’s the weather. Brisk mornings are mostly followed by pretty, mild afternoons with just enough chilly, cloudy days sprinkled in. Exploring the city is such a delight during the fall, and there’s plenty to do. Here are some of our coziest spots.
Full Circle Bookstore
Full Circle is Oklahoma’s largest and oldest independent bookstore and an absolutely perfect backdrop for a ‘90s rom-com. You’ve Got Mail wishes its book shop was this cute! Full Circle's ambiance starts with its 13-foot, burnished oak bookcases (housing some 60,000 titles) with rolling ladders, wood-burning fireplaces and lots of comfortable spots to curl up with your new book. Even the music is cozy – the shop plays a relaxing mix of classical, jazz and folk music throughout the store. Its Garden Café is open all day, with a charming patio for ideal fall seating, eating and reading!
Perets Dessert & Coffee Bar
Perets is a dessert and coffee bar with a cool-cozy ambiance. Remember Edith Crawley’s super-chic London apartment in Downton Abbey? It’s like that. It’s got a fun ‘secret entrance’ and the best affogatos (ice cream & espresso dessert) you’ll ever have. We are partial to the Hot Honey version with vanilla ice cream, hot honey, candied pretzels, bacon peanut brittle, whip cream and espresso.
Put a Cork In It
This winery is something of an insider’s secret in Bricktown. Spend the mid-morning exploring Bricktown and when it’s time to refresh, Put a Cork In It will serve you cheese boards, butter boards, charcuterie, olives and wine, riverside in a picturesque outdoor dining area.
The Study
The Study is the coziest wine pub, with 60+ wines on tap, plus beer, sprits, snack and games. It feels like your eccentric, well-heeled great aunt’s house, with painted bookshelves, vintage overstuffed furnishings and quirky art. The vibe is unpretentious sophistication. Settle in and watch the leaves fall. You’ll love relaxing here.
The Harvey Bakery & Kitchen
Harvey is a dream any time of year, and it’s extra magical in the fall. With its tall windows and vintage French-style décor and a pretty patio, it’s a must-try. After a pastry or a meal – or a cocktail – take a stroll through the adjacent leafy, historic Heritage Hills neighborhood. Pastries are handmade, change with the seasons and are offered savory and sweet!
Wheeler Ferris Wheel
OKC’s Wheeler District is south of the Oklahoma River. It’s part neighborhood, part destination and it’s the home of the Wheeler Ferris Wheel, which overlooks the river with great views of downtown to the north. There are terrific restaurants, shops to peruse, lots of events (think farmers markets and festivals) and an uber-walkable street plan designed for people to come together and enjoy!
Perle Mesta
For the coziest splurge in town, head for Perle Mesta, on the first floor of the historic Skirvin Hotel. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner – we suggest dinner for the entire experience. City lights, a little hustle and bustle, cozy banquets and truly yummy food and drink created by Chef Andrew Black. Truffled parmesan French fries and a dry martini are a superlative appetizer choice!
