Oak & Ore 5-Year Anniversary celebration to include bevy of rare Oklahoma-made beers, live painting of the first indoor Plaza Walls mural, raffle prizes including year of free hot chicken
Oak & Ore, an all-ages restaurant and boutique beer hall in downtown Oklahoma City’s Plaza District, will host its 5-year anniversary party from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1732 NW 16th St. The “5 Years of Beers!” celebration is open to the public and free to attend.
“Breweries from all across Oklahoma are bringing their most rare and unique beers to help us celebrate five wonderful years in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District,” Oak & Ore Owner Micah Andrews said. “It’s our honor to create a distinctive stage each year for Oklahoma breweries to introduce and celebrate their most edgy, new, and experimental small batch beers.”
Tickets for a limited number of commemorative anniversary glasses designed by John Knight will be distributed on a first come, first served basis when doors open at 11:30 a.m., while supplies last.
Oklahoma beers will occupy all 36 temperature-controlled taps for the full day, with an hourly rollout of special beers beginning at noon where the spotlight will first rest on Oklahoma City breweries. At 1 p.m., Tulsa area breweries take center stage. IPAs at 2 p.m., sours at 3 p.m., and a cadre of special barrel-aged and dark beers will be tapped at 4 p.m. See full beer list below.
There will be food and beverage specials from open to close, and a series of raffle prizes will be given away at the half-hour mark between each round of special beer pours including a grand prize of a full year of free hot chicken. The final raffle prize will be awarded at 4:30 p.m.
Plaza Walls co-founder Dylan Bradway will live paint the first Plaza Walls indoor mural inside Oak & Ore during the event.
Plaza Walls is a curated, rotating mural project in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City managed and produced by The Oklahoma Mural Syndicate (OMS). The project was launched in September 2015 by Dylan Bradway and Kristopher Kanaly with approval by the Oklahoma City Arts Commission and Urban Design Commission.
People can support Plaza Walls by dining at Oak & Ore from Jan. 25 through Feb. 2, where 5 percent of all food sales will be donated to support the mission of Plaza Walls to advocate for and create public art throughout Oklahoma.
News and event updates will be posted on a Facebook event page.
