Free, walkable district-wide festival will feature more than 45 artists across 20-plus Bricktown venues and two outdoor stages.
(OKLAHOMA CITY) – More than 45 artists will perform across 20-plus venues and two outdoor stages when the inaugural Bandwagon: Bricktown Music Fest takes over Bricktown from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. The free, walkabout, district-wide festival will feature live music spanning country, hip-hop, Americana, rock, Latin, reggae, jazz, R&B and more.
The new festival builds on Bricktown’s longstanding connection to music. From historic Douglass High School, where Zelia Breaux mentored jazz legends Charlie Christian and Jimmy Rushing, to today’s music institutions including the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma, American Banjo Museum, Oklahoma Opry, The Criterion and the many entertainment venues that feature live music throughout the district, music has long been part of the district’s story.
Bandwagon is designed to invite audiences to follow the music throughout Bricktown with free admission to both outdoor stages and all participating venues during schedule of festival performances.
The Main Stage, located at 1 N. Oklahoma Ave., will be headlined by Heath Wright, lead singer of Ricochet, backed by the Oklahoma Opry Band. The Oklahoma Opry relocated to Bricktown in 2023, with plans to renovate an 117-year-old warehouse into a music hall and school. The Main Stage lineup will also feature Souled Out, Jabee, Ken Pomeroy, Bossa Collective, OKC Thunder Drummers and Mariachi Orgullo de América.
The Canal Stage, located along the Bricktown Canal across from Charleston’s Restaurant, will feature performances by From A to Z Music, Mighty Green, Eric Himan, DIVA, Beau Jennings & the Tigers and Chase Kirby.
In addition to the two outdoor stages, participating venues will host performances throughout the afternoon and evening. Rather than staying in one place, Bandwagon is designed to encourage attendees to move throughout the district, discover new artists and venues, and experience Bricktown’s restaurants, bars and entertainment along the way.
“Bandwagon is really about showing the ingredients of what is already happening with live music in Bricktown and creating opportunities for the music scene to grow,” said Kristen Vails, Director of Place Management at Downtown OKC Partnership. “We hope people follow the music throughout the district, discover something new and come away seeing Bricktown as a place to experience live music year-round.”
