OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) is seeking proposals for Perspectives in History: The 2023 Oklahoma History Symposium. This one-day event will be held on April 22, 2023, at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. The deadline to submit proposals is November 30, 2022.
Perspectives in History will offer scholars, historians, authors, students and museum professionals from across the state and country a forum in which to share their work with history enthusiasts. Proposals will be considered on a wide range of topics pertaining to Oklahoma history and culture. Possible broad topics include African American history, archaeology, Civil Rights, ethnicity, immigration, folklife, genealogy, Native American history, the territorial era and women’s history. Session formats could include traditional presentations, research sessions, discussion sessions or discussion panels. There also will be a museum and archival track for professional development, where topics will include collections management, outreach program development and social, cultural and political impact of archives and exhibits.
Proposed sessions must be either 30 or 50 minutes in length, including 10 minutes for audience questions and answers. More information and access to the form for submissions can be found at okhistory.org/symposium.
The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.
