Science Museum Oklahoma Invites Partners to Host Hands-on Activities

OKLAHOMA CITY — Science Museum Oklahoma is inviting organizations, clubs, businesses, and professionals to participate in two upcoming events designed to spark curiosity and connect guests with real world science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics experiences.

Community partners are currently being sought for DiscoverFest on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Women in STEAM on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Both events rely on hands-on activities led by volunteers and community experts to create memorable learning experiences for guests.

Organizations will lead a hands-on activity based on their field of work or expertise.

DiscoverFest, Science Museum Oklahoma’s largest annual event, welcomes more than 8,000 guests for a full day of free family fun and hands-on discovery. Community partners are encouraged to apply to host interactive activities that help guests explore a hobby, career field, organization, or area of expertise in an engaging, safe way.

Women in STEAM focuses on introducing students to female representation in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics careers through interactive activities and conversations. Ideal participants include women working in STEAM industries, college programs, professional organizations, and companies that support or employ young scientists and engineers.

“Some of the most meaningful moments at these events happen when a child gets to meet someone doing work they have never imagined for themselves before,” said Sherry Marshall, John E. Kirkpatrick President and CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma. “Community partners help turn curiosity into connection, and those experiences can stay with students long after they leave the event.”

Participation in both events is volunteer based and offers organizations the opportunity to connect with thousands of families and students while supporting science education in Oklahoma. Community partners provide their own activity materials, setup, and staffing during the events.
