Finding Carlos, a holiday Hip-Hop movie filmed in Oklahoma, will premiere on December 4 and screen throughout the month of December online at deadCenter Film’s virtual cinema and in movie theaters committed to COVID-19 safety precautions throughout Oklahoma. 

Finding Carlos is a feature length, family movie about a skateboarding teenager named Carlos who is reunited with his father. The film is based on RACE Dance Collective’s annual Hip Hop Nutcracker, and includes new versions of classic Nutcracker songs from the original Tchaikovsky score.

Finding Carlos will be available for free online during the month of December thanks to a partnership with deadCenter Film. deadCenter is presenting the film through their deadCenter Delivers the Arts program, a new virtual cinema focused on promoting the performing and visual arts. The film will be accessible through deadcenterfilm.org and deadcenterdeliversthearts.eventive.org.

Partners and filming locations include, The OKC Ballet, Civic Center, Scissortail Park, Super Cao Nguyen, Plaza District, Farmer's Public Market, Downtown murals, Paseo District, La Oaxaquena Bakery, Medicine Park, Spencer, Classen SAS, Asian Cultural District and the Cheyenne & Arapaho Nation.

Finding Carlos will also be released in movie theaters across the state that have passed safety regulations and have active, ongoing COVID safety plans. Theaters include the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma City’s Rodeo Cinema, Tulsa’s Circle Cinema, Alva’s Rialto Theater, Durant’s District Cinema, Muskogee’s Apex Cinema, Tishomingo’s The Indie Cinema, and Heritage Theaters in Chickasaw, Duncan, Elk City, and Weatherford. All of these theaters will screen as safety allows during the month of December. Check individual theater websites for details and screening times.
