SONIC Free Family Day is back at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on March 31 from noon to 5 p.m. Inspired by the special exhibition, “Off the Wall: One Hundred Years of Sculpture,” the event features a 2 p.m. performance by kindie rock band the Sugar Free Allstars, a collaborative community sculpture project and activities throughout the galleries. Free admission and all activities for the day are made possible by SONIC, America’s Drive-In.
“We are especially excited for this spring’s SONIC Free Family Day because it gives us an opportunity to showcase works that the Museum recently acquired,” said Bryon Chambers, learning manager. “‘Jacob de Graeff’ by Kehinde Wiley, ‘An Italian Autumn’ by Thomas Cole and ‘Still Life with Fruits, Flowers, Game, and Fish’ by Jan van Kessel the Elder will all be on view March 31. Both new and repeat visitors will enjoy seeing these stunning new works on our second floor. We are thankful to SONIC, America’s Drive-In for sponsoring this fun day.”
“We are proud to support our community’s wonderful art museum,” added Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for SONIC. “Their dynamic collection is a wonderful asset to our city and we are honored to open the Museum for free to our community twice a year. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to see the beautiful works of art at the Museum and spend time with family and friends.”
Free admission to the Museum includes the exhibitions, “Off the Wall,” “Ansel Adams and the Photographers of the West,” “From the Golden Age to the Moving Image: The Changing Face of the Permanent Collection” and “Dale Chihuly: Magic & Light.”
