Oklahoma City restaurant Iguana Mexican Grill will host the 2nd Annual Margarita Expo on Saturday, September 21, from 2-5pm at 9 NW 9th Street. The tasting event, featuring variations on the tequila-based cocktail from several participating Oklahoma City metro area bars and bartenders, will benefit Academia OKC, a non-profit that provides in-school arts programming for Oklahoma City school children in mariachi, baile folklórico traditional dance, visual art, photography, and film.
Margarita tasting passes will be on sale for $10 each the day of the event. Pass holders will receive a wristband giving them access to taste all the margaritas, sponsored by El Jimador Tequila. General concessions including Indian tacos, elotes, and other beverages will also be available. Mariachi Orgullo de América will provide live music. “The Margarita Expo is an event that we really look forward to every year,” said Karrie Evans, General Manager of Iguana Mexican Grill. “It gives us the opportunity to come together as industry professionals to support an organization that keeps cultural traditions alive. Plus, it gives all of our favorite bartenders a chance to flex their muscles at a really fun block party!”
Following the Expo, Factory Obscura will host the VIP Opening Event of the Mix-Tape art installation from 5-10pm at 25 NW 9th Street for annual pass holders. Information is available at factoryobscura.com.
