Kickapoo Tribal Health Center (KTHC) and National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum partner for KTHC’s 1st Annual Native American Heritage Month event honoring elders. We want to take a moment to honor Native American Elders and students from Meeker Indian Education and McLoud Inter-Tribal Club are invited to help greet, distribute blankets, and serve light snacks! This Kickapoo Tribal Health Center Community Outreach Activity is on Friday, November 15th, from 10 am - 12 pm at the Kickapoo Multi-Purpose Building and is free and open to the public.
In conjunction with the KTHC’s 1st Annual Native American Heritage Month event, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum is excited to partner with the KTHC to provide an opportunity for elders to engage with premier Native American artist and Cherokee Treasure Jane Osti. Since 1991, Osti has been making traditional Southeastern Woodland/Mound builders inspired pottery, also contemporary woodland style earthenware and Raku pottery. The images usually depict abstract animals, landscape and nature, with symbols of endurance, protection and celestial activity. In addition to the demonstration, elders are invited to attend the Museum to explore the galleries and Native American collections on November 20, 2019. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is excited to engage with the community and find meaningful ways to partner and share its dynamic collection.
