Interactive Western Art, Activities and Entertainment Series to Rotate Throughout July
Youth-focused fun throughout the museum daily, with extra-special activations every Saturday.
There’s never a bad time to bring kids to The Cowboy, but this July is going to be tough to beat. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, or The Cowboy, is filling one of Oklahoma’s hottest months with activities to keep young ones busy and wanting to come back for more, while keeping everyone in the family cool.
All month long, the following activities will take place: Kids-Only Secret Messages, next to certain art or artifacts, with a decoder spy glass included with admission; Kid Food at the Grill; Movie Theater Takeover with Toy Story 1, 2 and 3 showing throughout the day July 8-28, with concessions available in the Museum Store; Kid Selfie (and photo) Stations; and interactive Art Stations including Prix de West, Jr where kids are encouraged to possibly become Oklahoma’s next Paul Moore and the Ledger Station, with Ledger art activity. Plus there will be Story Time at the Museum Store every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with special guests and even a Museum Party Giveaway!
"This July the Museum is focusing on family fun," said Natalie Shirley, president of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. "Families can enjoy additional and unexpected activities, as well as the best of what you can experience all year at the National Cowboy Museum, all while staying in the cool indoors."
Additional events will rotate every Saturday, and include an Independence Day celebration, American Cowboy Warrior course, the Cowboy Road trip and National Day of the Cowboy. Details and schedules follow. As always, kids 5 and under are free, and children 6-12 are only $5.75. Family Museum Memberships are $10 off through July and include free Museum admission for up to two adults and four children for a year, a 15% discount at the Museum Store and Museum Grill and more.
