Applications are now open for makers, artists, scientists and hobbyists to share their skills at Science Museum Oklahoma’s 2023 Tinkerfest, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 30. In previous years, Tinkerfest has offered more than 60 hands-on tinkering activities developed by the museum and community partners at this annual event which attracts thousands of people.

Presented by Oklahoma NSF EPSCoR and sponsored by OG+E, Tinkerfest is a daylong celebration of curiosity and creativity that encompasses the entire museum and grounds. Admission to the museum and all Tinkerfest activities are offered free of charge thanks to the generous support of sponsors and volunteer tinkerers.

Interested individuals or organizations should offer a hands-on hobby, project, skill or trade that can be shared with attendees. Past tinkering activities have spanned from disassembling cars, candle making, comic book creation and podcast production to foil sculpting, loom knitting and robotics. Tinkerers are responsible for providing their own supplies for the event but lunch and an event t-shirt are provided.

Individuals or organizations, including nonprofit and for-profit businesses, may apply to have a table at the 2022 event. Applications are due by Sept. 9 and there is no fee to apply or to host a table. Apply online at www.smo.org/tinkerfest/apply.

Volunteers are also needed for various tasks including tinker support, guest assistance, etc. For information about volunteering at Tinkerfest, visit www.smo.org/volunteer.
