SATURDAY MORNINGS IN MAY: BREAKFAST WITH THE ANIMALS AT THE OKC ZOO

Take part in the Oklahoma City Zoo’s newest event during Breakfast with the Animals on Saturdays May 4, 11, 18, and 25 in the newly renovated Love’s Pachyderm Building at Expedition Africa. Guests will enjoy a build-your-own breakfast taco bar, pancakes, potatoes, and eggs while hearing from OKC Zoo caretakers and ambassador animals from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a giraffe-feeding experience that is included in the price of the ticket. Tickets are $55 each for adults ages 12 and older ($39 for ZOOfriends members) and $45 each for children ages 3-11 ($32 for ZOOfriends members). SATURDAY, MAY 4: SPRING PLANT SALE AT THE OKC ZOO, 9 A.M. TO NOON

Spring is here and gardening season is on! The Oklahoma City Zoo’s horticulture team is hosting a spring plant sale on Saturday, May 4 with seasonal annual and perennial plants available for purchase. Packages of OKC Zoo Poo, the Zoo’s premium compost sourced from organic plant material and many of your favorite Zoo animals, will also be available for purchase. The plant sale will be held in the Zoo’s entry plaza from 9 a.m. to noon.

 

SATURDAY MAY 4: OKC ZOO HOSTS WORLD TURTLE DAY ACTIVITIES FROM 10 A.M. TO 1 P.M.

Say shell-o to some radical reptiles during World Turtle Day at the OKC Zoo. Head to the Wetland’s Walkway to learn more about the turtle species that call the Zoo home with caretaker chats, a Turtle Eye Spy game, and a radio telemetry activity for finding turtles. The Oklahoma Zoological Society is celebrating fifty fun years of Max, the Galapagos tortoise, who came to live at the Zoo half a century ago. Those who make a $50 donation to conservation will be entered into a drawing for a four pack of tickets to a Galapagos tortoise Wild Encounter worth $200. On Saturday, Zoo guests will receive a free water bottle courtesy of Shape Your Future, a program of TSET, while supplies last. Water bottles will be given away beginning at 9 a.m. as guests enter the park. World Turtle Day activities are free with regular admission.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 4: SAFE KIDS DAY AND ASTHMA AWARENESS DAY AT THE OKC ZOO, 9 A.M. TO NOON

Safe Kids Oklahoma is hosting a day full of fun family activities at the Oklahoma City Zoo on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. Kids are invited to participate in the safety scavenger safari as they learn how to stay safe on the road, at home and at play. Event activities will be set up near the Zoo’s Jungle Gym Playground and are free with regular Zoo admission. Safe Kids Oklahoma works to prevent unintentional childhood injuries, the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Safe Kids Oklahoma is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to protecting kids. Safe Kids Oklahoma was founded in 1989 and is led by Bethany Children’s Health Center. For more information, visit safekids.org or safekidsok.org. Asthma Awareness Day is also May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, and includes games, prizes, and giveaways to raise asthma awareness among children. The goal of the Bethany Children’s Respiratory Therapy department is to provide essential education, valuable resources, hands-on training, and information for families to manage asthma effectively.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 10, 17, AND 24, 6 TO 10 P.M.: OKC ZOO’S SIP AND STROLL, 21+ EVENT SERIES, PRESENTED BY COOP ALE WORKS

The Oklahoma City Zoo’s 5th annual Sip and Stroll season presented by COOP Ale Works returns bigger and better than ever. Event goers 21 and older are invited to enjoy evenings of tasty treats and refreshing libations on Friday evenings May 10, 17, and 24 as well as Fridays, June 14, 21, and 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. each night. Sip and Stroll connects guests to the Zoo’s wondrous wildlife while they enjoy time strolling through the park. Along the way, guests can quench their thirst at numerous bars and grab delicious bites including hot honey chicken biscuits, carnitas street tacos, pork belly steamed buns, and more! Sip and Stroll is also an event with a purpose: $2 from every ticket goes to support the Zoo’s conservation efforts for Texas Horned Frogs. Friday, June 21 is our PRIDE Sip and Stroll celebration complete with a drag show performance and fun PRIDE cocktails, plus information stations hosted by queer community organizations. General admission for Sip and Stroll is $22 per person for nonmembers and $17 per person for ZOOfriends members. SATURDAY, MAY 18: OKC ZOO HOSTS OUR BLOOD INSTITUTE DRIVE, 9 A.M. TO 2 P.M.

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Our Blood Institute (OBI) are calling on the community to stand tall and donate by giving blood! Take time to attend this blood drive being hosted at the OKC Zoo’s Education Center on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donors will receive a themed T-shirt and an admission voucher to the OKC Zoo. SATURDAY, MAY 25 THROUGH MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2: EARLY ZOO HOURS FOR ZOOFRIENDS MEMBERS ONLY

Beginning Saturday, May 25 and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 2, ZOOfriends members will enjoy early access to the OKC Zoo with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. daily. This special perk is for ZOOfriends members only with proof of a current membership passport. ONGOING: OKC ZOO SUMMER CAMP SIGN-UPS OPEN

Learning doesn’t end during the summer at the OKC Zoo. Enrollment is now open for the Zoo’s award-winning Summer Camp program. Sign-ups are open for weekly camps created for kids ages 5-17 with themes including Wildlife Warriors, Animals of Pride Rock, Zoolympics, and more. Class sizes are limited, so sign up early to ensure your kids get in. Each week-long day camp is $300 per child ($270 per child for ZOOfriends members).   • NEW Scooter Pals! Take a ride on the wild side with the OKC Zoo’s new Scooter Pals. This new mobile entertainment opportunity is a fun way for guests 18 and older to explore the park. Scooter Pals are animal themed and available to rent daily weather permitting, located in the Zoo’s entry plaza. Cost is $5 activation fee, $0.35/minute.  
  • Children’s Zoo Barnyard (Children’s Zoo) is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Elephant Express Tram: Take the tram for a relaxing, informative tour of the Zoo. Rides offered daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All day bracelets are $6 per person. Children two and under free. 
  • Elephant Presentations are free to attend and take place at Sanctuary Asia, elephant habitat at 2 p.m. Friday through Sunday. 
  • Endangered Species Carousel: Carousel rides are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 430 p.m. Cost is $4 per person. 
  • Explorikeet Feedings (Children’s Zoo): These feathered favorites are waiting to meet you! Feeding opportunities are available daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $4 per person. Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. 
  • Gorilla Trek VR: Experience the life of gorillas in the jungle with this 360-degree live action virtual reality film with motion platform seating. Open Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $8 per person. 
  • Rhino Feedings:  Discover this memorable experience with one of the most magical residents at the Zoo–an Indian rhino! Feeding opportunities available weekends (Thurs.-Sun.) from 11:30 a.m. to noon. at Sanctuary Asia. Cost is $10 per person. 
  • Stingray Bay: Our stingrays will bring a smile to your face! Stingray Bay is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $4 per person to enter. Stingray feedings occur Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while supplies last, for an additional $3 per person.
  • Flamingo Mingle: Flock to the Flamingo Mingle feeding daily from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
  • Giraffe Feeding: Feed our tallest friends during the Giraffe Feeding Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • Camel Rides: Camel Rides are available the OKC Zoo daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $8 per person.

 

The Oklahoma City Zoo is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with the last entry no later than 4 p.m. Purchase advance Zoo admission tickets at okczoo.org/tickets and avoid the entry lines.
