ASM Global is pleased to announce that Barbara Beaton has been appointed as the General Manager of the Oklahoma City Convention Center. With over 30 years’ hospitality experience Beaton is an accomplished executive with in-depth sales & marketing, customer service and operations background.
The Oklahoma City Convention Center is part of a MAPS3 project budgeted at $288 million and is the largest in city history for a single project. The convention center features a 200,000-square-foot exhibit hall with 45,000 square foot of meeting space and a 30,000 square foot ballroom. With the opening of the new center in 2021, it has already proven to be a hub for the meetings and events industry in the heartland.
While Beaton has been part of the ASM Global family for 17 years, the move from Assistant General Manager to General Manager is a significant promotion. Previously Beaton has worked in various capacities for NRG Park in Houston, Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth Convention Bureau and the Tulsa Convention Center.
“It is a very exciting time to be part of the meetings industry in Oklahoma City”, said Barbara Beaton, General Manager of the OKC Convention Center. “With an energized local hospitality community and a state-of-the-art convention center, and working with a city that is committed to the meetings industry I am proud to be part of the team at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.
Bob McClintock, ASM Executive Vice President of Convention Center said, “We are fortunate to have Barbara accept this leadership position to build an alliance with the local hospitality community, deliver on the brand promise and to provide customers with exceptional service”.
Beaton will be leading the team at the convention center effective immediately. For the latest information on all ASM Global venues visit www.asmglobal.com, and for the Oklahoma City Convention Center www.okcconventioncenter.com.
