OKLAHOMA CITY (September 18, 2024) – OAK, a premier mixed-use development by Veritas Development, dedicated three sculptures by Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin: Cloud Trees, Cloud Puncher and Mighty Live OAK to the Dobson family.
The dedication honored the Dobson family’s generous contributions to Oklahoma and served as a tribute to the state’s pioneering past and promising future.
“The Dobson family is a cornerstone to our community,” said Ryan McNeill, founder of Veritas Development. “Their commitment to bringing opportunities to Oklahoma is unmatched, and this art celebrates their incredible impact.”
The sculptures embody the dynamic connection between Oklahoma land, sky and resilient spirit of its people.
At the center of OAK’s Heartwood Park, the Cloud Trees sculpture rises as a 42-foot-wide, 61,000-pound installation designed to capture the beauty of Oklahoma City’s distinctive landscape.
“Our intention with Cloud Trees was to create a sculpture celebrating the ever-changing, yet deeply rooted connection between the land and sky,” said Brad Oldham. “This piece serves as both a fine art installation and a functional backdrop for community events, with integrated speakers and lighting illuminates the space below.”
Cloud Puncher is a 50-foot-long sculpture connecting the second-story balcony of the Lively Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton to Heartwood Park below. Anchored by a larger-than-life cowboy on the ground, the nearly 10,000-pound sculpture spans between Heartwood Park and the hotel’s second-story pool deck. A 17-foot-long stainless-steel cloud appears to be ‘caught’ on the building, creating a dynamic connection between the two spaces while the structure is partially integrated into the hotel’s architecture.
“The cowboy in Cloud Puncher is a reflection of the determined spirit of Oklahomans,” said Christy Coltrin, artist and CEO of Brad Oldham Sculpture. “With his hat pulled low, he becomes a universal symbol, inviting viewers to see themselves in the sculpture”
The Mighty Live OAK sculpture is installed near the corner of N. Pennsylvania Avenue and Northwest Expressway. This 22-foot-long, 7,200-pound bronze sculpture is a symbol of safety and strength while the acorns indicate a promising future.
Cloud Trees, Cloud Puncher and The Mighty OAK aren’t the only sculptures at OAK. A small-scale series of six sculptures is hidden inside the Lively Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton for an engaging, intimate art experience.
Lively Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a boutique concept set to open soon.
