  • Orange you glad it’s time for the Oklahoma City Zoo’s annual Pumpkin Drive! From Saturday, October 1 through Friday, October 7, guests bringing a pumpkin larger than their heads to the OKC Zoo during regular hours will receive free same-day admission. Limit one free admission per person. Pumpkins will be available for purchase from Halloween Warehouse OKC at the Zoo’s front entrance for $10/pumpkin or $34 for four pumpkins ($8.50 per pumpkin). Reservations are not required to take advantage of this special offer. Donated pumpkins can be dropped off at the Zoo’s check-in point, Entry Plaza and will be used to decorate for Haunt the Zoo.

 

 

MONDAY, OCTOBER 3: TICKETS ON SALE FOR OKC ZOO’S NEW WILD ABOUT HEALTH FITNESS CLASSES

  • This Fall, the Oklahoma City Zoo is excited to present a new program, Wild About Health, and offer a trio of early morning fitness classes designed to spark an interest for being active while surrounded by wildlife and wild places. Guests are invited to try one or all three of our different fitness classes being led by Fit4Moms, Barre3 and a family-focused private yoga instructor – all happening outdoors in the OKC Zoo’s Devon Picnic Grounds. Instruction will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. and each class concludes with a surprise animal encounter at 10:15 a.m. Classes are limited to 30 guests. In the case of inclement weather, classes will move indoors. Cost per class is $30/adult or $18/adult for members, includes instruction and same-day general admission into the OKC Zoo.   • Barre3 / Saturday, November 5, 9 to 10 a.m.: Barre3 is a 45-minute full-body balanced workout combining strength conditioning, cardio and mindfulness that will leave you feeling balanced in body and empowered from within. A trained guide will direct and inspire participants through a circuit of diverse exercises developed to target specific areas of the body. All levels are welcome. Participants must be 18 or older.
  • Fit4Moms’ Stroller Strides / Sunday, November 20, 9 to 10 a.m.: Stroller Strides® is a functional, total-body conditioning workout designed for moms, dads or grandparents with kids in tow. Each workout is comprised of strength training, cardio and core restoration, all while entertaining the little ones with songs, activities and fun. Children must remain in their stroller for the duration of the class. School age children are welcome to join but they must be able to sit next to mom or in a designated big kid spot during class; this workout is intended for mom not for the kids. General Zoo admission is required for accompanying children attending this program.
  • Family Yoga / Friday, November 25, 9 to 10 a.m.: Complete your Thanksgiving holiday with a yoga class for the whole family! This yoga class offers an age-appropriate Yoga practice including stretching and strengthening poses, breathing and relaxation techniques all while being playful and fun. This class is designed for all ages and there must be an accompanying adult for every three minors. Participants are required to bring their own yoga mat. Cost is $30/adult or $20 for guests age 3-17; $18/adults for members or $11 for members age 3-17, includes instruction and same-day general admission into the Zoo.

  • Embrace the fun, tradition and sweets of the trick-or-treating season at Haunt the Zoo! The Oklahoma City Zoo is thrilled to host the 39th annual Haunt the Zoo for Halloween, Oklahoma’s largest and longest running Halloween season celebration! Presented by Oklahoma’s Own News9, Haunt the Zoo brings families together for a unique, outdoor trick-or-treating experience in a safe environment. Trick-or-treaters will discover themed photo booths along the Haunt the Zoo trail as they collect treats from friendly volunteers. Volunteers will distribute candy and snacks through 8-foot “treat tubes” into official Haunt the Zoo bags from a safe distance. Show off your festive best and wear your Halloween costume to Haunt the Zoo. Adults are encouraged to dress up, too, but nothing scary.   • Volunteering so fun, it’s scary! The Oklahoma City Zoo is needing volunteers to help with the 39th annual Haunt the Zoo for Halloween, Oklahoma’s largest trick-or-treating event! With unique trick-or-treating methods in place, it's sure to be a safe and memorable experience for our guests, staff and volunteers. Haunt the Zoo occurs Saturdays and Sundays, October 8 through 30. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8: AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) INTERPRETERS AT THE OKC ZOO

  • The Oklahoma City Zoo is dedicated to connecting its guests to wildlife and wild places and on Saturday, October 8, will be providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters in the park to create an enhanced experience for guests who are deaf and hard of hearing. ASL interpreters are available at the Zoo on the second Saturday of every month and present at the sea lion and elephant presentations plus, scheduled Wild Encounter experiences. Zoo guests are not charged a fee for the use of an ASL interpreter. Cost per person for the sea lion presentation is $5, children two and under are free to attend. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14: OKC ZOO’S CHOMP AND STOMP ANIMAL ENRICHMENT EVENT

  • Join us for all things pumpkin chomping and stomping at the Oklahoma City Zoo’s annual fall enrichment event, Chomp and Stomp. During this uniquely festive, family-friendly activity guests watch as the OKC Zoo’s animal family including young Sumatran tiger cubs, Luna and Bob, go wild for pumpkin treats! This year’s theme, “Spirit of Halloween,” will be inspiration for our caretakers, as they put their creative talents to the test – carving, slicing and dicing pumpkins into edible creations for the animals to enjoy. These unique food items are provided to the animals as part of the Zoo’s ongoing animal enrichment program, which is designed to stimulate and encourage the animals’ natural behaviors, such as foraging. This activity is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to attend with Zoo admission. The Chomp and Stomp schedule will be shared on the Zoo’s social platforms and website.

 

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15: JOIN OKC ZOO’S CONSERVATION CLUB EDUCATION SERIES

  • Protecting the planet starts here in the Oklahoma City Zoo’s Conservation Club. This monthly series will teach your young environmentalist how to make the planet a place where wildlife and wild places thrive through hands-on activities, chats with experts and expeditions throughout the OKC Zoo. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21: OKC ZOO AND BOB MOORE SUBARU HOST NATIONAL REPTILE DAY ACTIVITIES

  • Join the Oklahoma City Zoo and Bob Moore Subaru for National Reptile Day on Friday, October 21, and help raise awareness for and celebrate our planet’s reptiles. Presented locally by Bob Moore Subaru, Zoo guests will have an opportunity to learn more about the various reptiles that call the Zoo home while learning more about threats to reptiles’ natural habitats. Event activities will take place by the Zoo’s historic Herpetarium building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include an information station, interactive activities for kids with prizes, photo opportunities and Facebook live chats and more. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28: OKC ZOO’S HAUNT THE ZOO: ALL GROWN UP PRESENTED BY COOP ALE WORKS

  • Calling all grown up campers! Haunt the Zoo: All Grown Up, Oklahoma City’s largest Halloween party for adults 21 and older, is back and better than ever. Presented by COOP Ale Works, Haunt the Zoo: All Grown Up returns to the Oklahoma City Zoo on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 7 to 11 p.m. Halloween lovers 21 and older are invited to this event of the season featuring unique experiences in the “spook”tacular setting of the OKC Zoo after-hours. For this year’s theme, the Zoo will be transformed into a haunted summer camp full of thrills, chills and lots of treats including 11 bars, interactive games and challenges, unlimited “scare”ousel rides, sea lion presentations, dancing, food trucks and more. Guests are encouraged to embrace the fun of the event and come in costume. Real or fake weapons or full coverage masks are prohibited.   • The OKC Zoo is dreaming of a bright holiday season with the return of OKC ZOO SAFARI LIGHTS! Presented by OG&E, OKC ZOO SAFARI LIGHTS is a festive light event offering guests of all ages the opportunity to discover larger-than-life light sculptures on a driving tour through the OKC Zoo. After the driving tour, guests park and re-enter the Zoo for an additional walking experience complete with immersive and interactive light displays, fun photo ops, festive treats and eats available for purchase and more! The big guy himself, Santa, will part of the festivities and available for photo opportunities weekends during SAFARI LIGHTS from November 12 through December 11, and daily from December 15–25 in the Zoo’s Canopy Restaurant. OKC ZOO SELLING DIGITAL ART NFTs CREATED BY ITS MALE ORANGUTAN FOR CONSERVATION

  • Purchase a piece of art history that will help raise awareness and funds for wild orangutan conservation. The Oklahoma City Zoo’s critically endangered male Sumatran orangutan, Elok, 21, has created digital art available for purchase as a non-fungible token (NFT) via an international auction. All pieces of The Elok Collection are viewable and available for purchase through the online auction site OpenSea.io. This novel creative endeavor is the result of the design team at Megafauna Studios, Becky Scheel and Mathieu Kuhne, reaching out to the OKC Zoo’s Director of Conservation Science, Dr. Rebecca Snyder, to propose a new form of digital animal enrichment. Animal enrichment is the term used to describe any stimuli given to animals in human care that stimulates their senses and activates natural behaviors as well as behavioral diversity. All three species of orangutans—Sumatran, Bornean and Tapanuli—are critically endangered, making conservation fundraising efforts like this crucial. Elok’s artwork is available on the world’s largest NFT market place, OpenSea.io. Net proceeds from the sale will be collected by Oklahoma Zoological Society, the non-profit organization that supports the Oklahoma City Zoo. The OKC Zoo will then allocate the funds to non-profit science-based conservation organizations working to protect wild orangutans and other endangered species. VOLUNTEER ON THE WILD SIDE: GROUP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE OKC ZOO

  • Gather your group and flock to the Oklahoma City Zoo for exciting group volunteer opportunities during the fall season.   • Jump into another season of Read for Adventure, the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden’s statewide library program. The program’s feature book, Juniper’s Butterfly Garden, inspires kids to read the story of a child’s discovery of monarch butterflies and why it’s important to protect them. OKC ZOO’S FALL ATTRACTION SCHEDULE

  • The Oklahoma City Zoo’s fall attraction schedule continues through Sunday, October 30. Pre-purchase tickets for these wild experiences and attractions as well as Zoo admission online at www.okczoo.org/tickets. By purchasing advance online admission tickets, you can bypass the Zoo’s ticket lines for faster entry into the park. This schedule is subject to change without notice. All rides and attractions are operational weather permitting.
  • BRICKLIVE Animal Paradise: Discover this safari of wildlife brick sculptures! Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. General admission for BRICKLIVE is $5/person plus, Zoo admission.
  • Camel Rides: Take your Zoo visit to new heights with a ride on a dromedary camel. Cost is $8 per person and rides will take place from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily. Children under 6 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Other rules are posted at the habitat.
  • Children’s Zoo Barnyard: You’ll go wild for this up-close and in-person encounter with our goats and sheep. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends.
  • Endangered Species Carousel: Carousel rides are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person.
  • Elephant Presentation (Sanctuary Asia): These “ele”fantastic presentations are free to attend and occur Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
  • Explorikeet Feedings (Children’s Zoo): Fly by the Children’s Zoo to feed the lorikeets. Feeding opportunities available daily from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $4 per person.
  • Flamingo Mingle: Flamingo Mingle feedings occur daily in the Children’s Zoo habitat from 9:30 to 10 a.m. plus, an additional feeding on Saturdays and Sundays from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Cost is $7 per person. Children age 2 and under are not permitted. 
  • Giraffe Feeding Platform: Greet the Zoo’s gentle giants! Enjoy daily feeding opportunities from 11 a.m. to noon. Weekend feedings from 2 to 3 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
  • OKC Zoo Tram: Tour the Zoo in comfort while learning about its animal and 100+ year history. Tram travels from the Entry Plaza to Sanctuary Asia and are offered daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All day bracelets are $6 per person. Children two and under free.
  • Rhino Feedings: Our Indian rhinos are ready to meet you! Feedings occur at 11:30 a.m. Thursday through Sunday at Sanctuary Asia. Cost is $10 per person.
  • Sea Lion Presentations: Don’t miss these educational and engaging presentations featuring the Zoo’s California sea lions and harbor seals! Daily presentations at 1 p.m. and an additional weekend presentation at 10 a.m. at the Zoo’s Sea Lion Presentation Stadium. Cost is $5 per person. Children two and under are free.
  • Stingray Bay: Stingray Bay provides up-close encounters and feeding opportunities with one of the most majestic creatures of the sea, stingrays! Cost is $4 per person to enter. Daily hours 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with feeding opportunities available at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., while supplies last, for an additional $3 per person.

The tiger is the most popular school mascot in Oklahoma but unfortunately, this iconic animal is critically endangered with populations continuing to decline in the wild. We hope this challenge will inspire students and their communities to think about the state of wildlife here in Oklahoma and around the world by choosing a new school mascot that can have a deeper connection to conservation. ONGOING: ART GONE WILD, ART MADE BY THE OKC ZOO’S ANIMALS FOR ANIMALS

  • Art Gone Wild, the Oklahoma City Zoo’s selection of animal paintings, are one-of-a-kind gifts for any occasion. With assistance from their caretakers, the Zoo’s talented animal artists have created an array of paintings available for purchase. Art Gone Wild is part of the Zoo’s enrichment program and the paints are safe for the animals to use as they are non-toxic and washable. New art pieces are created regularly and available to view in the Zoo’s Guest Services office located in the Entry Plaza, open during regular park hours. Original pieces range from $35 to $300, depending on size. All net proceeds benefit one of the Zoo’s conservation initiatives.

 

The Oklahoma City Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with the last entry no later than 4 p.m. Connect to wildlife and tons of fun as you experience BRICKLIVE Animal Paradise at the OKC Zoo.
