More than 500 junior rowers from five states are expected to race on the Oklahoma River in the 2023 OKC Junior Invitational Regatta on Saturday, March 25. Racing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Boathouse District. Hosted by RIVERSPORT, the regatta is free and open to the public; parking is $5 with proceeds used to support youth rowing programs in Oklahoma City. 

Student athletes representing 13 rowing teams from Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas will be competing on the Oklahoma River in this year's annual regatta. More than 800 spectators are expected at this year's event making it the largest OKC Junior Invitational to date. 

“We started this rowing competition in 2011 with four participating teams,” said RIVERSPORT executive director Mike Knopp. “We are excited to see the growth of rowing in our region and welcome these teams to race with us.”

This early season regatta gives junior rowing teams the opportunity to race on the Oklahoma River’s 2000-meter course in preparation for the annual USRowing Central Youth Rowing Championships which will be held May 6 in the Boathouse District. The USRowing CYRC is the regional qualifier for the national championship race to be held in June.
