Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will join the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Sunday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m. at Scissortail Park for the annual “Red, White & Boom!”
“We are so fortunate to have a high caliber orchestra like the Oklahoma City Philharmonic,” Holt said. “For more than 30 years they have brought some of the finest entertainment to our city, and Red White & Boom has become one of the most anticipated summer events. So, grab your shorts and flip flops and join me at Scissortail Park with the OKC Philharmonic next Sunday!”
Presenting sponsor for “Red, White and Boom” is the Inasmuch Foundation. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, blanket and whatever they need to enjoy the performance. The first 5,000 guests will receive a free Oklahoma City Philharmonic fan, and limited edition “OKCPHIL” t-shirts will be for sale.
“Please join us for this wonderful summer concert,” said Maestro Alexander Mickelthwate, Music Director for OKCPHIL. “Our program will be full of patriotic music that celebrates America’s independence. Immediately following our performance, a spectacular fireworks display will illuminate the Oklahoma City skyline. How exciting this will be to welcome our friends to Scissortail Park and share in the joy of music and celebrate our nation’s birthday.
“We love giving back to the community,” Mickelthwate added. “Of course, we hope everyone joins us for our fabulous Classics and Pops concerts. But our community outreach goes far beyond that. And ‘Red, White and Boom’ lets us celebrate not only our nation’s independence, but also brings us together as a community and a family. So, we hope to see you at Scissortail Park on Sunday, July 3!”
