WHERE:

Fassler Hall / 421 NW 10th Street / Oklahoma City, OK 73103

DETAILS:

AZA’s SAFE gorilla program goal is to secure sustainable populations of all gorilla subspecies, with a targeted emphasis on protecting the fragile Cross River gorilla populations in Cameroon and Nigeria and halting the rapid decline of Grauer's gorilla populations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Zoo is home to two troops of Western lowland gorillas, a family troop and a bachelor troop, and is committed to helping protect wild gorilla populations and their habitat. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (DFGFI) is one of the OKC Zoo’s legacy conservation partners and funds provided by the Zoo are used to support operations at the Karisoke Research Center, which is the base for DFGFI’s field activities.

In addition to supporting this APEril fundraiser, consider donating a cellphone to help save gorillas. Support the Zoo in its efforts to protect wild gorillas and their habitat by donating old or used cellphones to the Gorillas on the Line Cell Phone Challenge now through Saturday, April 30, 2022. Donate a cellphone or small electronic and receive a free general Zoo admission ticket! Recycling old cellphones and electronics raises funds to directly support gorilla conservation initiatives through AZA’s SAFE gorilla program. Donated items can be dropped off for recycling in the Zoo’s Guest Services office located in the entry plaza during regular park hours.
