Program for children ages 2 through 4 has March through May openings

OKLAHOMA CITY (January 9, 2026) The Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) announced today the return of Playdate & Create, a program designed for children ages 2 through 4 and offered from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Each session of Playdate & Create includes themed gallery exploration, story time, and a hands-on art-making activity. Registrations for February, March, April, and May sessions are now open. Tickets to Playdate & Create are $20 for non-members and $10 for members, which includes registration for one child and two adults, as well as gallery access. Space is limited, and advanced registration is required.

“Last year we brought back Babies at the Museum, a beloved program that’s been very successful since its return,” said Bryon Chambers, Director of Education and Visitor Experience. “Playdate & Create offers a setting for slightly older children and their grown-ups to foster connection through creativity.”

Attendees will begin the morning in OKCMOA’s studio classrooms, where children can explore age-appropriate toys and activities while adults can enjoy coffee and conversation. Attendees will then make their way to the galleries, where, through prompts and stories, Museum staff will help spark curiosity, observation, and connection with the art on view. Back in the classrooms, children, with help from their grown-ups, will create artwork using materials and techniques designed for early learners, a hands-on activity that nurtures fine motor skills, creativity, and imagination.

Sessions will focus on works in the exhibitions Paul Reed: A Retrospective and Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection, as well as the second-floor permanent collection galleries. The following themes will accompany the upcoming Playdate & Create sessions:

March 28 | Wheels in Motion

April 12 | Floral Impressions

May 23 | Colors and Light

April’s Playdate & Create program has been moved to the second Sunday to align with OKCMOA’s seventh annual Art in Bloom. More information on registration and individual sessions can be found at okcmoa.com/playdate
