Military service members and their families can enjoy four free weekends
throughout the coming year at the Museum
OKLAHOMA CITY (July 6, 2026) — OKCMOA is proud to collaborate with the United Service Organizations (USO) to welcome active-duty military, veterans, and their families to the Museum during Military Appreciation Weekend, a seasonal program hosted in the summer and fall of 2026, and the winter and spring of 2027.
These weekend-long events align OKCMOA’s mission “to enrich lives through the visual arts” with the USO’s mission “to strengthen the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families,” providing days where service members, veterans, and their families can experience all the Museum has to offer free of charge.
“We’re excited to once again collaborate with the USO and to make the impact this year that much greater by hosting four weekends instead of one,” said OKCMOA President and CEO Michael Anderson, PhD. “Our military families are an important part of our community, and it’s an honor to share the Museum with them in this way.”
Programming for the summer weekend can be found below and will include an Oath of Service ceremony, a card-making station for delivery to deployed service members, and a children’s art gallery exhibition for USO Craft Camp participants. Full details for the remaining programs—in November, February, and April—will be published at a later date.

Military Kids Craft Camp Art Show

OKCMOA invites all participants in the annual USO Craft Camp to visit the Museum to see their art on display. We look forward to welcoming our budding artists and their families to see their work!
FRIDAY, JULY 17

Oath of Enlistment Ceremony
10:30 a.m. | Open to the public
In coordination with the USO, Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), and Recruiting Command, OKCMOA will host an Oath of Enlistment ceremony in front of the Museum at Carolyn Hill Park. Immediately following the ceremony, recruits and their families will be invited to stay for a guided tour of Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection on the first floor. Lunch will be served at 11:15 a.m.
SATURDAY, JULY 18
Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Card-Making Station
10 a.m.-1 p.m. | Open to the public
As part of our commitment to fostering a sense of community, visitors to the Museum will have the meaningful opportunity to create “thank you for your service” cards. These heartfelt messages will be sent to our brave service members who are deployed overseas, allowing our visitors to contribute to their well-being and show their support directly.
