The Iconic Punk Group will play Tower Theatre on July 1
Leaders of a punk generation, X announced additional stops on their summer tour. X will perform at Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City on July 1. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m.
Three decades after the inception of X, one thing is clear: X was not only one of the most influential bands to crash out of the punk movement of the late ‘70s, but the band’s music continues to be sonically groundbreaking today. Songs written during the group’s inception are as relevant and inventive today as they were in 1977.
The fact is, no one sounds like X and no one ever will. The original line-up, Exene Cervenka (vocals), John Doe (vocals/bass), Billy Zoom (guitar), and DJ Bonebrake (drums), will start touring this May. Earlier this year, X reissued and remastered their first four classic albums via their collaboration with Fat Possum Records – Los Angeles (1980), Wild Gift (1981), Under The Big Black Sun (1982) and More Fun In The New World (1983).
X performs July 1 at Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., show starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 - $40 in advance. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.towertheatreokc.com, calling 405-70-TOWER, or visiting a Tower Theatre Box Office, located at Citizens Bank of Edmond, Fowler Volkswagen of Norman and Tower Theatre.
Tower Theatre is an independently-owned, live music and movie venue, located at 425 NW 23rd Street in the Oklahoma City’s historic Uptown 23rd District.
