RIVERSPORT OKC is bringing one-of-a-kind events to Oklahoma City Saturday, August 24, for the RIVERSPORT Whitewater Kayak Clinic, including BoaterX, ShredderX, freestyle competition and a free whitewater kayak clinic.

Schedule of events:

9:00 a.m. Free whitewater kayaking clinic

11:00 a.m. RIVERSPORT Rapids and Adventures opens

4:00 p.m. BoaterX

5:00 p.m. ShredderX

6:00 p.m. Freestyle competition

“BoaterX is a hit with the whitewater kayaking community,” said rafting operations manager Andres Reyes. “It has whitewater kayakers launching off the RIVERSPORT Rapids bridge and dropping in the water 13 feet below.”

“Participants race side-by-side through the channel, navigating gates, executing combat roles and elbowing their way to victory.”

Whitewater enthusiasts can also race Shredders, a type of whitewater raft, down RIVERSPORT Rapids in a new event called ShredderX. They will also have an opportunity to compete in a freestyle competition. Participants can register for all three events online. Proceeds will benefit the Pine Creek Gauge Fund and the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation.

Whitewater kayakers will also have an opportunity to take part in a free whitewater kayaking clinic courtesy of Jackson Kayak, OKC Kayak and RIVERSPORT OKC. Internationally-recognized paddlers Rafa Ortiz, Colin Kemp and Jim Buley will lead courses throughout the day. This clinic is open to novice and experienced kayakers.

RIVERSPORT Adventures will also be offering whitewater rafting, zip-lining across the Oklahoma River and climbing on the SandRidge Sky Trail, as well as food from Big Water Grill.
