Arts Council Oklahoma City’s virtual Finale 5K is the kickoff event to Opening Night. As recently announced, OKC’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, Opening Night, will not be an in-person ticketed event this year. Instead, the event will be a free, virtual livestream experience for the entire community. For the health and safety of everyone involved, the decision was made that the Finale 5K should take place virtually as well.

“The virtual Finale 5K is going to be a super fun and safe way to kick off the new year,” says Finale 5k Co-Chair Hanna Wilson. “While different from the norm, a virtual experience allows you to run with anyone, even if they aren’t in Oklahoma City. I like that you can run ‘alongside’ your friends, family, or co-workers and maybe even spark a little friendly competition.”

In the past, the Finale 5K has taken place at 3:00 P.M. on New Year’s Eve, with the race route spanning several blocks in Downtown Oklahoma City. This year, registrants can run the race at anytime and anyplace of their choosing from December 26th - 31st. Once runners have completed their race, they will be able to log their finish time, download a personalized finisher’s certificate, and see their ranking against other participants on the leaderboard. The first 200 registrants will receive a limited-edition Finale 5K shirt and finisher’s medal. The cost to run is $35 per person. Proceeds directly support Arts Council Oklahoma City and its mission of “bringing the arts and the community together.”
